Red Boots Roots hosts Rissi Palmer, Live from her House!

Virtual

Rissi Palmer's gift lies in reaching across all musical boundaries. While she made her mark in Country Music, she is equally at home in R&B music, bringing the entire spectrum of popular music to bear on music she calls “Southern Soul.” As a passionate voice for country artists of color and those who have been marginalized in mainstream country music, Rissi launched her own radio show Color Me Country with Rissi Palmer on Apple Music Country. Since making its debut in August 2020, listeners have been treated to in-depth and riveting, often funny, yet very necessary conversations with artists such as Brittney Spencer, Chapel Hart, Crystal Shawanda, Darius Rucker, Mickey Guyton, Miko Marks, The War and Treaty and many more. In conjunction with her radio show, Rissi also created the Color Me Country Artist Grant Fund designed to support new country artists of color who are just beginning to build their music careers. We can't see Rissi live, but we're very excited that she has agreed to play our virtual series from her house. Here is all that you need to do to join us. 1. Fill out the linked form so that we have you on the RSVP list. We can then send you reminders and updates. [Note: if you have joined us before, you can skip this step.] https://forms.gle/yq3zKf9TXo2f69Ke9 2. Pinecone Online Workshops: Music Business 101 with Rissi Palmer: All the Bad Decisions I Made So You Don't Have To!

Livestream

Rissi Palmer will discuss her personal journey in the music business, how she got a publishing deal, a record deal and ultimately went independent. She will talk through other aspects of her career including her Color Me Country (https://colormecountry.com/) radio show and basic songwriting. Q&A is strongly encouraged! We hope you will make plans for this unique one on one experience with Rissi Palmer! Rissi Palmer's gift lies in reaching across boundaries. One of our most compelling singers, she is at home in R&B but made her mark in country, bringing the entire spectrum of popular music to bear on music she calls “Southern Soul.” Her new album, "Revival," is her most powerful work to date. The product of a mature artistic vision, laser-focused social consciousness, and a voice with the power and grace only experience can bring, it is also her most important work. "Revival" finds Rissi dealing with some of the most pressing issues of the times, as well as with the personal realms of love, loss, and identity. “It’s one of the most personal things I’ve written and recorded,” she says. “Everything I write is personal, but I feel like I’m in a place of being really honest and transparent with people, because that’s what I like in an artist. That’s what I look for; those are the people I’m interested in, and I want to do that same thing for others.” Suggested donation: $10. An e-mail containing the link to access this online program will be sent to all registrants on the day of the program.

Country Soul Songbook Summit

 —  —

Livestream

This is what your Mama’s Country music looks like.

We know in our bones that the music and culture we have come to know as Country, Soul, and Americana, are truly for EVERYONE. We’re coming together to celebrate what we know they can be: equitable, integrated, truth-telling, and future-minded.

The Country Soul Songbook Summit is a four-day music festival and conference--BY ARTISTS, FOR EVERYONE--broadcasting out to a front porch near you, from right here on the CSSB website. Register now and tune in October 15th - 18th!

Our mission is to spotlight marginalized voices in Country & Americana music, and to position artists as instigators of transformation in the spaces and hierarchies that have historically worked against their best interests.

Brought to you by a colorful array of creatives and cultural activists, The 2020 CSSB Summit is a call for gathering and engaging in vital conversations and accountability practices within our community and the music industry at-large. Summit happenings include performances, curated conversations, interactive workshops, and joyful re-imaginings of the Country-Americana canon.

All humans, extraterrestrials and sentient beings who share our love for Country & Americana music-- how it’s inspired and created, who it’s for, where it's going, and how our communities can be more equitable and inclusive, are invited to attend. Grab your ticket by donating to CSSB-- and while you’re at it, grab some of our fantastic merchandise! All profits go directly to participating artists and sustaining the CSSB project.

Fair Fight Fest

 —  —

Livestream

SEPT 19th & 20th

Voting should be as easy and convenient as possible, and in many cases it is. But across the U.S., too many politicians are passing measures making it harder to cast a ballot.

The goal is to manipulate political outcomes, and the result is a severely compromised democracy that doesn't reflect the will of the people. Our democracy works best when all eligible voters can participate and have their voices heard.

We're hoping to get musicians together to raise some money for Fair Fight who promote fair elections around the country, encourage voter participation in elections, and educate voters about elections and their voting rights.

Fair Fight brings awareness to the public on election reform, advocates for election reform at all levels, and images in the other voter education programs and communications.

Hopefully we can make a difference!
